Serafina Minns creates the perfect atmosphere when she sings at a wedding ceremony.
‘‘The voice of an angel’’ is an apt description of Serafina Minns, a highly trained vocalist who is in high demand to sing at weddings.
Coincidentally Serafina (her real name) comes from the word ‘seraphim’, which means an angel.
A personal song performed by a professional live vocalist creates the romantic atmosphere at a wedding ceremony and can powerfully convey a couple’s love for each other.
According to Serafina, recorded music should never be an option at a wedding.
Serafina is an accomplished pianist and organist so she can play and sing at your wedding with no need to hire an organist as she can do both.
If there is a keyboard instrument at the church it can be utilised otherwise for outdoor occasions Serafina uses her own musical equipment.
With an Italian background, Serafina started off with piano lessons when she was seven years old before discovering her singing voice at age 12. She began performing at weddings when she was just 16 years old.
‘‘Music is my life,’’ Serafina said. ‘‘I eat, sleep and breathe music.’’
The bridal couple has a consultation with the singer at her home where she offers private music and singing tuition to young and old in Albion Park Rail.
Instead of being given a demo tape, the couple are played samples and given short renditions of the songs that they like.
She gives the bride and groom a complete choice in what songs they want from a large repertoire of top love songs or she can perform a special request.
‘‘I will learn any request, and perform their song choices for the bride and groom and perform it on their wedding day,” Serafina said.
‘‘While I mainly perform at wedding ceremonies, I also sing at receptions and corporate functions.’’
By profession Serafina is a high school music and language teacher so besides English she can sing in Latin, Italian, German and French.
